Stephanie Ross

Trustee

Having grown up in both Canada and Devon, I headed to Oxford to train as a learning disability nurse in 1991.

It was earlier experiences of supporting people with learning disabilities to develop skills and achieve, that led me to learning disability nursing, and I have now worked locally for nearly 30 years in learning disability services. Throughout this time I have had the privilege of meeting so many people with learning disabilities and their families at all stages of life, and my passion to empower and enable remains.

There are times when bespoke services bring greater opportunity to people with learning disabilities and I can see the huge benefit that Alexandra House of Joy will bring to so many. Providing high quality care in a wonderful environment will enable people and their families to thrive, and it is a privilege to be involved with the creation of such a space.

Outside of work, I am mum to 3 and love time spent with family, and some quiet time knitting or gardening!
